On the weekend of September 7th/8th, myself Paula Thomas and friend Lisa Price will be taking on the National 3 Peaks, Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon followed by the Yorkshire 3! We are raising money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham so that they can purchase a Heart in a Box machine. This machine can keep a donor heart beating outside of the body until surgeons are ready to transplant, giving them precious extra time if an operation is particularly tricky due to scar tissue etc.
This is a cause close to my heart as my husband Rhys Thomas – an ex professional Welsh Rugby player – is waiting for a heart transplant and his will be a particularly complicated operation.
With the new “opt out” system being talked about for England as it is in Wales we are hoping to raise awareness for the need of donors as well as raising money for this revolutionary machine. Any one wishing to donate can do so via our Just Giving page
You can also donate via text to 70070 with the message SIXP48 £donation.
We look forward to ending our challenge in Horton in Ribblesdale!
