Giggleswick pupils bring Christmas cheer to Langcliffe
Pupils from Giggleswick Junior School visited Langcliffe Village Institute on Thursday 15 December to sing to residents in the village who were meeting up for Thursday Club – a regular lunch club for people living in the area. This sessions celebrated the festive season by providing Christmas lunch and pupils from Years 3 to 6 went along to sing Christmas songs and carols, including Silent Night and Jingle Bells. The children were also rewarded by a visit from Father Christmas after their performance.
This annual tradition was started by Linda Evans, who is the treasurer for Langcliffe Village Institute and the Librarian at Giggleswick School. Josie Fenner, who was in the audience, said
It’s the highlight of the year for Thursday Club!
Josie was speaking at the school’s own Chapel service the following day, which she had visited with Linda having enjoyed the singing so much. James Mundell, Headmaster at Giggleswick Junior School, said
This is a great opportunity for our pupils to perform in front of an audience and they really enjoy it. It’s very rewarding to get out into the community and I hope we will get to do it again next year. Thank you to the Thursday Club for asking Father Christmas to come along too, the children were over the moon!
