Grassington Festival Aims High for 2013

It’s time to start getting excited about Grassington Festival! The team organising the 15-day extravaganza of art and music in the Yorkshire Dales have announced some of the stellar names confirmed for its main stage events – and this sneak preview hints at one of the most diverse and ambitious programmes yet.

The line-up looks set to bring some of the biggest names in entertainment to the small dales town, with none other than the internationally-acclaimed national treasure Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra playing the Festival in the Field on Wednesday 26th June.

Then Thursday 27th June will see the world-famous Black Dyke Band bring its big, bold and beautiful brass ensemble to fill the marquee with the uplifting and heart-warming sounds that have made it one of the oldest and best brass bands in the world.

On Friday 28th June, the team is thrilled to welcome back THE ORCHESTRA starring ELO former members, who return to the Festival by popular demand after selling out three years ago, and wowing the marquee audience with hits like ‘Roll Over Beethoven’ and ‘Mr Blue Sky’.

And finally, as if that wasn’t enough, on Saturday 29th June, the Last Night Party might just be one of the liveliest ever. This year, the legendary festival folk-rocking Levellers will be winding things up in memorable style. Expect the kind of electrifying performance that’s earned them a 24-year place at the heart of the UK folk-roots scene together with countless awards like the 2011 “Roots Award” at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Tickets are on sale now for Star Patrons, from Monday 10th December for Patrons, and on sale to the general public from Wednesday 12th December 2012.  Prices range between £12 and £38.

Tickets are available in person from the Grassington Festival Box Office which will be open until 19th December, 10am-4pm, Monday-Friday; by telephone on 01756 752691 and online at www.grassington-festival.org.uk <http://www.grassington-festival.org.uk>

Kate Beard, Festival Director, said “Everyone in the Festival Team is delighted to be able to bring such high quality, internationally-renowned acts to next June’s Festival.  We would encourage anyone looking for an unusual gift for an arts lover this Christmas to consider buying tickets and even a patronage package which offers a range of exclusive benefits to our supporters and helps us continue to bring world class events to our corner of the world.

Follow the progress of the Festival on Facebook and Twitter pages and watch for more details of the programme to be announced very soon!
