1. 12 Mar – 13 May: Gallery on Green: ‘Diversity in stitch, wire and wood’ by
Cate Holland  ‘DIVERSITY IN STITCH, WIRE AND WOOL’

A new spring exhibition. As spring flowers start to bloom around the gallery,
local artist and former art teacher  Catherine Holland takes as her theme for
the exhibition the concept of waiting for the release  that spring brings
after a season of being caged in.

2. Th 30 March:- YWT Work party – Ashes Pasture near Ribblehead
It has been changed from a Workparty at Southerscales to a workparty at Ashes
Pasture which is on the  road from settle to Ribblehead, about a mile or two
south of Ribblehead, on the East side  -  tree planting and willow clearance
at Ashes Pasture

to mark the reopening of the line above Appleby.

5. Fri 31 March
Bank Newton Meadow Project: This is a project which CCG supports.

The first work party at Bank Newton meadow will be on Saturday morning  4th
Feb, 10.00 am for a couple of hours .  The work will be digging out some
young trees and blackthorn that are all going to new homes.   I am also
having a burn up (some young Ash) and there will be some general clearing to
do.   Please bring spades, loppers and saws. Parking at  SD91335328 is

Launch of a very special book written by archaeologist and Airton Friends
Meeting clerk, Laurel Phillipson, along with vernacular buildings expert
Alison Armstrong.   “Hidden in Plain Sight: a history of the Airton Meeting
House” examines how one of the oldest  Quaker Meeting Houses in the world
came to be built here in a remote corner of the  Yorkshire Dales.

29: Tue 25 Apr: Exploring What Matters. 7.00 – 9.00 pm at Friends Meeting House, Settle.
The first session of an 8 week course. Developed by the charity Action for
Happiness and   led by 2 local people, Tess McMahon and Guy Lyons, this
secular 8 week course is based around an exploration of important questions,
starting with “What really matters in life?” and then “What really makes us
happy?”  These are followed by sessions on dealing with adversity,  having
good relationships, caring for others, and creating happier workplaces and
communities.  They end with “How can we create a happier world?” Visit:
