The young people of Settle iTownMyTown Project
The iTownMyTown project, part of Yorkshire Forward's Partnership Skills Programme, was been launched to give young people - often excluded from such consultations - a much-needed voice on the future of where they live.
The hi-tech project is being run by the MBED Partnership, which was set up by the Creative Industries Development Agency (CIDA) in Huddersfield and beam, in Wakefield to aid the delivery of the Yorkshire Forward Partnership Skills Programme, helping Town Teams to deliver their ambitious plans for the future.
With the help of the iTown Creative team, headed by Brian Cross (artiMEDIA, Huddersfield), the iTown project has visited 6 towns across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire to present a series of workshops using multimedia software, podcasting technology, soundbytes, video diaries, and online podcasts. As part of the Partnership Skills Programme, the Town Teams will involve the youth of these towns to actively participate in making change both personally and for their town in an empowering and creative way.
