1. Sat 20 Oct : Bryophytes  at Tosside – 10.30am
Several CCG members will be joining the NWNU Bryphytes excursion near
Tosside. to go and visit Lower Knotts Nature  Reserve, Tosside.
CCG=Craven Conservation Group
NWNU=North West Naturalists Union. Meet at Tosside village which is on the
B6478  road from Long Preston to Slaidburn. As you approach the village the
Vicarage Tea Rooms  and the village hall is on the left. Turn left (south)
there at the village cross.  There is a public car park about 100m from the
junction on the right SD769559.  We will then share cars at 10.30am. Leaders
Gordon Haycock and Stephanie Peay.

near-beginner. Let me know Judith)

An illustrated talk by Graham Standring of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

At St John’s Methodist Church, Church Street, Settle.
Entrance £3 for non-members and £1 for members. All welcome.
When I first came to this area there were just 2 nature reserves in
Ribbesdale and near Settle – now there are six!! 
Come and find out about them.

11. Wed 31 Oct: Pumpkin Heroes – Children between 5-11 years are invited to
Hellifield Methodist Church for ‘Pumpkin Heroes’ with fun, games, crafts and
puppets, on Wed. 31st  October between 5.30-7pm. It’s a free alternative to
“trick or treat”.  Parents (and grandparents) are welcome.  Contact Pauline
on 07931 511652 with any queries or just come along!

  Are you nervous of speaking in public?
    Then Speakers Club is for you!!!.  Hurray!
Come and give it a try – you can just observe and don’t have to speak.
First Evening free – including tea and coffee – so you have nothing to
lose!!! Meetings are fun.

c.15 percent of the green house gases produced each year could be saved it we
were not destroying the world’s  remaining forests and their soils.
£100 can save 1 ha or rainforest.

tax justice issues.

The Ribble Life Project – Illustrated presentation by Ellie Brown, GIS Data &
Evidence Officer with the Ribble  Rivers Trust, updating the project’s
progress since the last visit by a speaker  from the RibbleRivers Trust in March 2016.

Ellie can give great insight in to how the Trust uses data and evidence to
identify, prioritise and plan their work. 

At St John’s Methodist Church, Church Street, Settle.

Please remind people that Settle Community Christmas Day Meal is an option for
25 Dec.  The volunteers join in and we have lots of fun. It is £10, (but we
have a bursary fund for those especially hard up). It is held at St John’s
Church, Settle 11.45am to 5pm. Come by yourself or in a small group.
Transport available.  Can you help us make that magic total of 50
participants again?  Please tell neighbours who may not have
