A Happy New Year for 2014 and onwards


The Christmas exhibition in the Gallery on the Green is now open and features a truly communal effort in a knitted version of ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’. The windows of the phone box will feature panels from the Flag maker’s 12 Days of Christmas collection and there will be the usual children’s treats. The exhibition will run until 18th January.


A reminder that follow  Christmas break the community choir will start its singing sessions again on Monday, 13th January from 1pm to 3pm in the Friends Meeting House, Kirkgate, Settle. New members are very welcome. For more information ring 01729 823777 or visit the website


Churches together in Settle and District are hosting a holiday club at St John’s Church Hall on 2 January entitled “Shine”. This is a free activity for 5-11 year olds and will run from 10-3.  Please bring along a packed lunch.  Contact 07931 511652 for details.


During the Christmas Season all residents and visitors to Settle are warmly invited to come along to any of the Christmas Services.  At 5.30pm on Christmas Eve there will be songs and stories around the Christmas Tree at St John’s Methodist Church and a Nativity Service at 6pm at Settle Parish Church. At 8pm St Mary’s and St Michael’s Catholic Church will celebrate the First Mass of Christmas and at 11.30pm there will be a Midnight Mass at Settle Parish Church. On Christmas Day at 9.30am there will be an all age Eucharist at Settle Parish Church; At 10am there will be a Mass of Christmas Day at St Mary’s and St Michael’s Catholic Church; Christmas Morning Worship will also take place at 10am at St John’s Methodist Church and you are invited to bring along a gift to unwrap in company, meanwhile Society of Friends will hold a half hour all age meeting for worship at 10.30am and Settle Christian Fellowship will hold a Christmas Celebration service at 10.30am. Zion Congregational Church will hold a Family Christmas Morning Service at 10.45am.



A warm welcome is extended to residents and visitors alike to St Alkelda’s Church over the holiday period.  On 24 December there will be a traditional nativity service at 6.30pm and then on Christmas Day at 11am there will be a service of Holy Communion.
