One World Week

From Judith Allinson : 20-27 October is One World Week 2013

In the past groups in Settle have organised events on this theme, and
we are encouraging groups to do so again. Sometimes some of the
schools have made lively contributions to this.

One World Week is a Development Education Charity. Each year, “The
Week” is an opportunity for people from diverse backgrounds to come
together to learn about global justice, to spread that learning and to
use it to take action for justice locally and globally.

I wonder if you, or any of your staff would be interested in
organising an / some events for this, either within the work day or
as a separate event.

You can download the 2013 One World Week Leaflet here

The theme this year is “More than enough?”
OWW in 2013 asks you to support or organise events that enable us to consider whether we:
• have had more than enough of consumer culture getting in the way of
relationships with others in our communities and across the globe?
• have had more than enough of being defined by what we possess?
• have had more than enough of seeing our planet irrevocably consumed?
• take more than enough ourselves?

However any event that is social orientated and a bit international
orientated will do fine.

Alison Tyas and I are acting as a coordinating committee to organise
some publicity for the events that do take place.

I have made a draft page here (on my own website) but hope to get it
put on Settle website and on Churches Together Website once we have
more events firmed up.
