I am planning to visit St Alkelda’s Church Flower Festival on 25th August with a party of ladies from a Mothers’ Union Branch in Wigan.
I would like some information about the village of Giggleswick and nearby area (Settle?) with regards to shops, cafes etc that would be good to wander round as well as visiting the church, as we will be there most of the day.
I have tried to contact the tourist information on which is on their home page, but the email was returned.
    thanking you in anticipation

When we first visited Settle we would spend the evening in a large pub in the centre
which had live music at least on one night during the week.

I can’t remember its name but on our last visit it had sadly closed. Does anyone know if it has now reopened and if there is live music in Settle at the moment?

The band, a few “mature” gents playing mainly jazz type music, were very good and it was a great night out.

Hoping to visit again in August.

If you are in Settle over the weekend of 17/18 October, you would be welcome at Concert&Cakes which is a one hour performance of music followed by home made cakes and coffee/tea. This is at All Saints CHurch, Burton in Lonsdale, LA6 3JU starting 2.30pm. Entry is free, no ticket required. Donations are invited and small charge for refreshments.
