All Oct and November – The Yorkshire Waxcaps Project.
https://www.neyedc.org.uk/waxcaps
Wed 16 Oct = Improvers day- Wensleydale. – I hope to go to this one (should anyone want to share transport, but will have to come back a bit early) – but you do have to be an improver for this day, not a complete beginner.
Several events and training days and forays are being planned throughout Yorkshire – You have to sign up and they will send you details.
Even if you are a beginner, if you find some waxcaps,, you can be helpful by filling in the form here – it works on mobile phones.  https://www.neyedc.org.uk/waxcaps

Wed 16 Oct: 4pm – 5.30pm Eco-Explorers-for families with children aged 4-11.
This next meeting is likely to be the last 4pm event with Eco-Explorers.  (since it will start getting dark early in November). We will meet at St John’s Church, Settle,  at 4pm and likely to have indoor activities and church garden activities (The weather forecast is not conducive to a walk)
We met in Settle Parish Churchyard for the past two meetings and had a great time   exploring the world under our noses – It has been as fascinating for the adults as for the children. I really wish more people could have come. At the last two meetings we looked at the insects that we collected under trees on a white sheet.
For example, Do you know what this insect is? It is about 1 cm long. (Answer at end)
There were many more insects coming down from the ivy flowers than from the holly or the horse chestnut branches. We did collect some conkers though, which we put on strings. Please contact me if you would like more details and if you would like to come.
