Christmas Lights Switch On

Christmas in Settle

On Saturday, 30th November, Christmas begins in Settle with switching on the Christmas lights. This popular event promises to be a fun-packed afternoon, beginning with a variety of stalls in the Market Place, including hot food, produce, children’s face painting, tombola and raffles. Come along to do some Christmas shopping at the wide variety of lovely shops Settle has to offer.

Why not bring the children to receive a gift from Father Christmas, who will arrive in the Market Place at 3.00 pm, and they will also have the chance to see real reindeer and a sleigh. After entertainment by local schools and other acts, Miss North Yorkshire will present a prize for the Best-Dressed Shop Window competition, and at 5.00 pm, Mike Harding will switch on the dazzling Christmas lights.

But the afternoon doesn’t end there, as you can stay to join the carol singing around the tree and enjoy a firework display up on Castleberg Rock. And, last but not least, the popular children’s disco will be held at Settle Cricket Club between 6.00 and 8.00 pm.
