Come and find out more about these fascinating different types of fly from Derek Whiteley who used to work for the Sheffield Museums and Sheffield City Ecology Unit, and who In 1988, founded a journal (Dipterists Digest) about the identification and ecology of Diptera (true flies).

(Please park at White Friars/Garage Car Park or on the road, as the Church Car Park fills up very quickly.)

Sat 1 March: Yorkshire Naturalists Union Conference: “The State of Yorkshire’s Nature”  Several of us will be going from Craven Conservation Group
Sat  09:30am – 05:00pm  The Priory Centre York. – There may be the possibility of sharing transport. – Do look at the list of speakers and talks (at end) – it should be really good. But you do have to book. contact me if you are interested.
If you are a member of Craven Conservation  Group and are put off by the price please contact me as the group can subsidise a limited number of people.

Settle Community Munchers take place on Monday and Thursday Lunchtimes at the Friends Meeting House – pop in for lunch – just donate what you can afford and have a friendly chat with others there – I suggest 12 midday to 12.30 is a good time to go. (less food left after that). Some of the fresh food they use is donated by local supermarket/shops that is near end of sell by date. Delicious soups made by the cook at Settle Community Munchers. Do call in and give it a try.

Location of Conference
The Priory Centre, 15 Priory Street, is about a 10 minute walk from York Station (see map below). Parking is available in the nearby Nunnery Lane carpark but this is likely to fill up quickly on a Saturday morning. The Askham Bar Park & Ride (close to the A64 on the South West edge of York) runs to York Station about every 12-15 minutes with a journey time of about 18 minutes.
