Did you know That are over 50 percent of the world’s larger wild mammals have gone in our lifetimes for most of us (i.e. over the last 40 or 50 years) and are decreasing rapidly as land is used for crops and cattle.

The book was formally launched last Monday evening with wine at The Folly. People from Selside, Horton and Austwick attended and many copies were signed and sold.

11. Tues 26 Nov – the licensing of the Revd Julie Clarkson as priest-in-charge of Settle and Giggleswick with Rathmell & Wigglesworth. Many congratulations to Julie, born in 1960, who comes as a curate from Barnoldswick with Bracewell in the Ripon Episcopal Area. The licensing will be at St Alkelda’s Giggleswick at 7.00pm. In February Julie will be heading to Sri Lanka as part of our Area’s link with the church there, a link established by Bishop David Young who served in Sri Lanka with the Church Missionary Society before becoming Bishop of Ripon.

On Sunday 1 December at 1200, 1300, 1400 and 1500, trained guides will show folk why and how this is the first community building on church premises in Britain constructed to similar standards to those of a Passivhaus, with virtually no energy input and no emissions of C02.
