Community-led housing projects are run by individual community groups or Parish & Town Councils determined to build the types of homes that local people need and want. They are usually developed bywith and for a community-led organisation or enterprise, and is controlled and in some cases owned by a community-led organisation or enterprise.

These projects aim to solve local problems by working for and with the local community, for instance affordable housing, reasonably priced homes for families, housing that meets the community’s wants and needs.

Locality is a national charity, part of the Community-Led Homes partnership, and has supported many communities and community organisations in setting up their own community led housing projects.

Sophie Michelena from Locality said “I have witnessed so many exciting groups start from scratch in Otley, in Hebden Bridge, and Leeds. We are really keen to find enthusiastic individuals who want to be part of community led housing solutions in Craven and the Dales. The information session is about breaking down the steps for people, and helping them to think about and develop their idea.”
