We are delighted to let you know first that Concert&Cakes will be back on Saturday 15th October with an exciting programme entitled “from Mahler to McCartney” presented by the Marisca Trio.
Concert&Cakes was conceived to honour the memory of the late Dr Christopher Rowland, who lived in Burton in Lonsdale, and who founded the chamber music department at the Royal Northern College of Music. The Marisca Trio are a versatile ensemble who blend together the unconventional instrumentation of the harp, cello and saxophone, whilst performing pieces spread across a multitude of genres. Originating from Wakefield, Worcestershire and Brighton, the Marisca Trio formed at the RNCM, where they are about to begin their third year of studies.
If the saxophonist looks familiar, it is because she is also member of the Abelia Saxophone Quartet which performed for us last year. She enjoyed it so much, she asked whether she could bring her Trio back to us this year. Since then, she has performed at the World Saxophone Congress in Strasbourg and in the young orchestra which opened the Last Night of the Proms concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
We love having a full house for these concerts, so do please spread the word and if you know of anywhere to put up a poster, please feel free to do that.

The second concert this autumn is on Saturday 19th November, so please put that in your diary.
We look forward to seeing you on 15th.
