Hello Everyone!

I hope this Newsletter finds you well. It is quite some time since Settle Festival sent out a newsletter, so, with a few events on the horizon, it seemed a good time.

Please feel free to pass on the information in this to anyone you think may be interested, or use your preferred Social Media method to network it out!

To briefly outline what’s here, we have updates on:

The Big Lunch

Settle is holding its 3rd annual Big Lunch on Sunday 5th June as part of the National Event www.thebiglunch.com The community picnic will take place in Victoria Hall between 11am and 3pm, simply turn up on the day and bring your own picnic or food to share.

www.Settle.org.uk

The website has had a makeover, to align it more with being an interactive information site for the Town. It is still being developed whilst Live, so any input is welcome to editor@settle.org.uk . There is a directory of local businesses on there, with plans to link to a directory of Local Groups and Organisations, from a partnership initiative via Settle Rotary Club. Please send any details if you want your organisation to be in it to directory@settlefestival.co.uk

With links to social networking pages on Facebook and Twitter, the website is a facility to develop as people use it. There is a feature to allow for regular or one off articles or blogs with relevance to local events and interests. Similarly, there is an Events Calendar for use by locals and visitors.

Settle Social Networking

As Facebook, Twitter and such like gain prominence, so there seems to be ever more Settle groups and activity on there. It is a great way to keep in touch, and many groups and businesses now have their own pages. Similarly, we at Settle Festival have continued to embrace the virtual world, and have developed a business alongside, which can help businesses to embrace internet and traditional marketing fully.

Discounted Tickets for a Local Music Festival on 10th, 11th, 12th June

We have for several years been supportive of Local Music, and have worked with RoughBeats Festival to further this. We can offer a guest list discount of £25 off a Full Weekend Ticket including Camping via this link https://www.hmvtickets.co/performances/8147/book Single day tickets are also available.

Some details of the Festival are as below:

SUMMER STARTS AT ROUGHBEATS FESTIVAL
Ten years ago, Dom, Mike and Tony – with a little help from their friends –
decided to throw a party in a field. And what a party it was. Since then
Rough Beats has grown in size and reputation, with increasing numbers of
brilliant, crazy and eclectic acts welcomed each year. While getting bigger
and more popular each time, Rough Beats has kept its original quirky
independent spirit and delivers a weekend that keeps you dancing and doesn’t
leave you out of pocket.
Now a 2000 capacity festival there are 45 acts on 4 stages over the weekend
including Craig Charles DJ, Iration Steppas, Chrome Hoof, Hot Club de Paris,
Tim Forrester, Asbo Kid (formerly of EMF and Elastica Fame) The festival is
set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales just 20 miles from Lancaster.

Aurora Stage:
Chrome Hoof, Rise Kagona and the Jit Jive Band (Zimbabwe), Jota Ramos
(Colombia), Hot Club de Paris, DIXIE…
The Embankment Stage:
All Eyes West (Chicago), Delooze, Black Diamond Bay, Shy & the Fight…
The Berber Stage
The Horn the Hunt, Quip, Asbo Kid, Freear…
The Bus Stage
Dean McPhee, DIM, Heart Ships, Wilful Missing…
Sunday Special:
Craig Charles, Iration Steppas, Motor City Revue, Pink Peg Slax…
All the venues are in marquees so the event is weatherproof. There is a
pop-up bistro serving excellent cheap food from award winning London chef
and late bars serving cocktails as well as a range of real northern beers
and all of it at reasonable prices – not your usual festival rip-off fare by
any means.

The event is produced by local brothers Michael, Dominic, Kieron, Brendan
and Fionn McSherry and Tony Frances. It’s all about having a great time,
listening to brilliant music, in a beautiful location surrounded by ace
people and without being left out of pocket.

I hope you have found something of interest in this Newsletter. We are still keen to work with people on any new or developing initiatives. Please contact us on management@settlefestival.co.uk

Have a good Summer!
