One of the 15 different species of tree to be found on Harrison’s Playing Fields near Bankwell Road, Giggleswick.  I photographed this whilst preparing for Eco-Explorers who will be meeting on Tuesday. Do you know what it is?  (Answer at end)

Could you recognise and Ash leaf? an Oak Leaf? Could you draw one now from memory?  

Could you encourage someone with children to come? – It is an excellent opportunity to learn about our trees.

Fair Trade Coffee Morning At St Johns Methodist Church, Settle

Tina from the Coop will be bringing Fair Trade Goods from Settle Co-op – Try before you buy!!.
Plus the usual selection of delicious cakes, scones etc.

Wed 1 Oct: 1st day of the month walk.   – DO contact me for details.
(Last month we went by Train to Silverdale and to the two coastal hides and saw lots of waders)

6-9 Oct: British Lichen Society Field Autumn Meeting: Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire 
If you are interested in Lichens and already know a few and live nearby why not try and come for a morning?

Tue 14 Oct – Wonderful Waxcaps Workshop – By Wild Ingleborough
Discover amazing grassland fungi in a 1-day workshop, introducing ID skills, exploring in the field and sketching, at the foot of Whernside. 10am – 3pm   Cost: £30 Broadrake Bunkbarn, Broadrake, Chapel-le-Dale Ingleton LA6 3AX  – – it’s for beginners to learn some ID skills, practise using a key in the field and then do some sketching.

18 Oct: Bryology Section of the Yorkshire Naturalists Union visit to Broughton Sanctuary
