Here are events and activities to enjoy in September and October


1. Sat 11 Sep – Morning only (9.00-13.00): Covid vaccinations at St Johns Meth Church Settle :
:- Walk in vaccinations available – incl 16 and 17 year olds!!
2. Sat 11 Sep: Action on Climate Emergency Settle – ACE’s Sept Green Cafe
– will in fact be a trip out to Clapham Sustainability Group’s ‘Information Exchange Day’
(10-1pm) on renewable energy, being held at Clapham Village Hall. Programme at end.

3. Sun 12 Sept: 10.30am Climate Service at Ingleton Methodist Church
4. Sun 12 Sept: 
2pm Climate Service at Hellifield Methodist Church
(I’d be pleased to hear of other churches holding Climate Services)

5. Wed  15 Sept: Settle Slimming World: Settle Social Club, Duke St Settle

6. Thu 16 Sept An Ecumenical Service – For the Season of Creation
St Mary and St Michael, Tilman Close. 7pm.  (Tea, coffee and biscuits following service)

7. Thu 16 Sept: Settle Scottish Country Dancing Classes: 7.30pm
  St John’s Meth Church Settle weekly. All welcome (please bring your own drink)

8. Wed 26 Sep 10a,-12.30pm  – Wild Ingleborough Walk organised by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust

….. 18-26 Sept: Climate Coalition’s ‘Great Big Green Week’
ACE events during the UK’s ‘Great Big Green Week’ (18th-26th September):

9. Sat 18 Sept (10-12) Tree Care – meet Andrew Pease outside the Harts Head pub. BD24 0BA,
for a morning of local tree care including tree guard removal.
10. Mon 20 Sept (6-7pm) ‘The Great Pensions Scandal: Funding Climate Catastrophe in North Yorkshire’
– a webinar from ‘Fossil Free North Yorkshire’ that ACE is involved in, looking at why divestment is an
essential tool in addressing the climate crisis and how we can move forward to ‘green’ investment.

11. Tue 21 Sept (from 7.30pm) preserving fruit and veg. talk with Alison Tyas – Small Meeting, Quaker Meeting House.
Please book ahead. Donations for room hire.
12. Thur 23d Sep (10-12) – transport session: focusing on e-bikes (Alistair from Three Peaks Cycles),
e-cars (Robert Bellfield) & ACE transport survey update and discussion (Paul Cochrane).
Meet at the Small Meeting Room, Quaker Meeting House. Refreshments available.

13. 25 Sept: ‘Give and Take Day’ on the 25th September – Victoria Hall.

14. Also, though NOT under the ACE banner, for insurance reasons, some people will be gathering to
support the Autumn Global Climate Strikes next one on 24th Sept & then 5th November.
Global Climate Strike – Fri 24 September at 12.30pm. Come and support young people locally
and across the world. Gather with Sarah Wiltshire and other local supporters, outside the former
Nat West, with your banner. Speeches from local political representatives’.

15. Fri 1 OctWalk and Prayers for the Climate.   Meet Settle Swimming Pool Car Park to share transport.
