These coming two weeks are the best time to take photos of Snowdrops. And Hazel Catkins. Enjoy this photo of Langcliffe Church I took on 26 Feb several years ago.  And if at Langcliffe, remember there is still an EXCELLENT selection of second hand books for sale in the church.

Events in Detail 

1.  Sat 12 Feb:- Action on Climate Emergency Settle  (ACE Settle)  and Area’s virtual Green Cafe  (10.30-12 Noon) – all welcome, whether members or not.  As one of the two members’ meetings for the year, the other being the AGM, this Cafe will focus on what we are currently doing and have sketched out for at least some of the new year to come. We will have our usual sharing over coffee 10.30-11 including general points you may wish to raise about ACE; 11-11.15am a short summary from each themed group & from the steering group about what we have coming up; 11.15-11.30 a division into breakout rooms per theme to discuss further; 11.30-11.55 feedback and further input; 11.55-12 Noon notices.

Arrive 7.15pm for 7.30pm start.
Come and enjoy an evening out,and improve your speaking skills. You don’t have to speak if you don’t want to – you can just watch.  £5-00 Visitors. We meet fortnightly.
“How good are you at impromptu speaking?” Come and hear members of Craven Speakers Club in their annual Topics Competition, where participants are given a topic and then, with no preparation, have to speak on this subject for exactly 3 minutes plus or minus 15 seconds.

10: Thur 17 Feb: Craven Conservation Group Illustrated Talk: on Ingleborough National Nature Reserve: 

Ingleborough NNR, Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Area of Conservation, has recently been enlarged and the Wild Ingleborough Project is doing exciting work to restore its iconic landscapes and increase species diversity.
Andrew Hinde, Natural England Reserve Manager:
➢ how the whole reserve is managed
➢ the Selside wood pasture experiment
➢ the new “no-fence” grazing system for sheep and cattle
➢ woodland restoration through tree planting and natural regeneration

Prof Dominick Spracklen, University of Leeds School of Earth and Environment:
➢ monitoring vegetation types and species diversity ➢ carbon storage
➢soil-health ➢ the microclimate ➢water levels

11.   Mon 21 Feb  to 6 March is  Fair Trade Fortnight . What are you going to do for Fair Trade Fortnight?
Groups who use the Catholic Church Hall for activities (-e.g. the U£A Geology Group which meets the third Tuesday of the month) will notice the small display of Fair Trade goods for sale in the small entrance room to the church. Why not use this month as an opportunity to buy some?
