Boat business helps launch new business service

A thriving Skipton boat business has taken advantage of a new free service aiming to help businesses in Craven make the most of apprenticeships.
Pennine Marine, which has seen a 60% increase in enquiries on last year, was the first business to sign up to the new North Yorkshire Apprenticeship hub which offers impartial support plus information on the £1,500 grant.
The hub, a free County Council service funded through the Leeds City Region initiative helps businesses through the process of choosing an apprenticeship framework, identifying the right training provider and employing the best apprentice.
MD of the company, Peter Bryson, says his company which sells, builds and repairs rigid inflatable power boats, is keen to make the most of an increase in internet business.
“We’re seeing a real change in customer behaviour, people are literally buying boats over the internet unseen, said Peter.
Adding, “We need to take advantage of these on-line opportunities and our apprentice will have the opportunity to grow with the business and be a part of a team that charters new markets.”
