The Big Switch-on 2015
Settle Christmas Lights have been getting better each year and 2015 will be no exception! This year, the lights will be switched on in the Town Centre on the Saturday 28th November.
The Market Place will be buzzing with activity all afternoon; Santa Claus will be in his Grotto from 2.00pm with toys for lucky children and the Christmas Charity Market will have stalls to suit all tastes. The Settle shops will be showing off their decorated windows which will be stocked up with lots of Christmas present ideas to get the season off to a brilliant start. From about 3 o’clock there will be live musical entertainment from the open air stage and then the choirs from our local primary schools will lead us into the Big Celebrity Switch-on at 4.30. Who will this year’s mystery celebrity be? The afternoon’s festivities will close with our Great Firework Finale. But even that is not the very end, as there will be a FREE children’s disco from 6.00pm in the Settle Social Club.
To make the day even more enjoyable, Car Parking in Settle will be free of charge all day!
The lights team would welcome offers of help on the day, so if you are able to spare a few hours, please contact a member of the lights team. Or if you are able to spare some time (and energy) in the week before the Switch-on, the team would welcome volunteers to help with the putting up of the lights around the Market Place. Do please get in touch if you are able to help.
Local charities and organisations are invited to hold a stall on the Market Place during the afternoon – a great way to raise funds!
