Treasure Trail, Tours, Food & Entertainment

It’s only a few days until the Settle Showcase, and this is your opportunity to come and meet many of the small businesses and organisations that work across the Craven District. Some are working in Settle itself and others in the surrounding villages, such as Clapham, Bentham, Ingleton and Malham.

As well as businesses and workshops in Victoria Hall and the Quaker Meeting House there are plenty of other things happening on the day.

SETTLE TOWN HALL TOURS

Settle Town Hall, originally known as the Public Rooms, was designed in 1832 by George Webster of Kendal in a Gothic Revival style, to provide 4 four bedroom houses, 4 shops, a covered market, a savings bank, library, news room and workshops.

After almost 180 years in public ownership the building was purchased by Jeremy Taylor and his wife Lisa in December 2011, with a view to restoring the grade II listed building back to a series of boutique shops, offices and apartments.

As the Town Hall is still under refurbishment, you will be visiting both the old and new areas of the building, to give you a flavour of the building’s history and the challenge involved in bring this magnificent building back into use. Unfortunately over the years, most of the original features have been lost, but there are still some features which give you a taste of the grand times from the buildings past.

You can book on the day at Victoria Hall in the entrance hall.

THE FOLLY

The Folly is giving reduced price entry to anyone who attends the Settle Showcase – get your voucher when you arrive at Victoria Hall. They are kindly offering adults a fantastic £1 entry, with kids going free. They are also extending their normal opening times to 10.30 – 16.30 to accommodate as many Showcase attendees as possible. There will also be a range of quizzes and a Mouse Trail.

This event has been organised by the Settle Networking Group, a mutually supportive group of approximately 1080 local businesses. The group meets monthly to share ideas and look for ways to work together or to use each other’s services. We are affiliated to the Settle Chamber of Trade who have helped enormously with supporting our group. We would like to thank Victoria Hall, Booths, Lafarge Aggregates and many others for sponsoring or supporting this event.
